Color crystallizes. Melting point 125ºC, soluble in general organic solvents (such as benzene, dimethylformamide, ethanol, polyethylene glycol, etc.), slightly soluble in water (25ºC, 100g water dissolved 1.5g). Its aqueous solution is stable under acidic conditions and easy to hydrolyze under alkaline conditions. Increasing pH, heating, irradiation with ultraviolet light or fluorescence can make it dissolve much faster. It is easy to be debrominated by reducing agents, such as hydrogen sulfide, and become non-toxic cyanoacetate amine, which greatly reduces the bactericidal rate. Its half-life changes from 37.0h to 0.11h as its pH changes from 6.7 to 9.7.
