Manganese dioxide, a black or brown solid, is the most stable oxide of manganese and often occurs in pyrolusite and manganese nodules.

1.Manganese dioxide is a strong oxidizing agent, mainly used in dry batteries as depolarizing agent, glass industry decolorizing agent, paint ink desiccant, gas mask absorbent, match accelerant and so on.

2.Manganese dioxide is used as raw material of iron-manganese alloy in steelmaking industry and heating agent in casting industry. Used as a absorber in gas masks. In the chemical industry, Manganese dioxide is used as an oxidant (e.g. rhodopsin synthesis), a catalytic Chemicalbook agent for organic synthesis, and a desiccant for paints and inks. Manganese dioxide is also used as an accelerant in the match industry, as a raw material for ceramic, enamel and manganese salt. Manganese dioxide is also used in fireworks, water purification, iron removal, medicine, fertilizer and fabric printing and dyeing.
